Beck delivers with Modern Guilt

Beck recently released his first new album in 2 years - Modern Guilt. Never one to let his fans down (at least in the studio), Beck delivers another catchy/eclectic/creative musical experience.
Like all of his records, Modern Guilt maintains a unique but familiar feel throughout. Beck’s ability to produce both quality music and complete albums continues to impress.

Flight of the Conchords delivered a really funny and enjoyable performance this past Tuesday in SF. The talented comedy/music duo blended humorous banter with really impressive musicianship, making for a refreshing night of entertainment.

Oh, By The Way
Pink Floyd is one of my all-time favorite bands. From their ground-breaking first album in 1967, The Piper At the Gates of Dawn, to Meddle, The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, The Wall and so on, they have amassed quite an impressive catalog (14 official releases to be exact) over the years.
Not to be outdone in the new digital age, Pink Floyd has created quite an impressive interactive ad/site for their latest release, a box set entitled Oh, By The Way.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you’re in starts playing different tunes
I’ll see you on the dark side of the moon.
Whole Lotta Love
WOW…if these rumors prove true, Led Zeppelin, arguably the greatest rock n’ roll band of all time, will supposedly announce a reunion to play a tribute show and possibly tour for 2008, according to Billboard and a variety of other web sources (Yahoo, Philly.com, Belfast Telegraph, Times Online).
I would do just about anything to see these guys reunite and rock out!
On the flip side, it appears they are definitely releasing some new/old material this fall. Be sure to check their official website for official news and potential tour information. (Thanks for the heads up, Sam!)

Rock the Bells - SF
Rock the Bells 2007 - San Francisco was an exciting and entertaining hip-hop festival. For someone like me, who enjoys good hip-hop, but isn’t generally all that “into it,” I was definitely impressed with the quality of music played.![]()
My highlights included: Sage Francis getting down (and do some silly dancing); The Roots are incredible
musicians and played a great set; seeing Public Enemy, the combo of Chuck D laying it down and Flava Flav acting like a fool; Hieroglyphics was probably the most impressive act (that I’d never really heard beforehand); Wu-Tang Clan performed a solid set, including an appearance by Redman; and last, but certainly not least, Rage Against the Machine played an extremely impressive, crowd-jerking, thought-provoking performance to close out the night.

Virgin Festival - Baltimore, MD
In spite of the 100+ degree temperature, the 1st day of the Virgin Festival at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, MD was great.
We saw half of the Incubus set (Garber’s “guilty pleasure”), all of Ben Harper & The Innocent Criminals, all of the Beastie Boys, the first 30+ minutes of The Police (+ Roxanne), and the majority of the Modest Mouse set.![]()
Ben Harper’s performance was solid; the B-Boys were still impressive (now in their 40’s); The Police seemed pretty well rehearsed and at least enjoyable; and Modest Mouse played a great set.
One of the more revealing moments of the night was watching a huge number of attendees (including ourselves) leave The Police set to make it over to see Modest Mouse (pictured below)… Read more
Radiohead is making progress
The highly anticipated new album from Radiohead (LP7) appears to be on its way to completion. As reported on At Ease (a fantastic RH blog), the band is in NYC mastering their new record.
The band featured a number of the tracks that are guesstimated to appear on LP7 during their last 2006 tour. You can find some pretty high quality bootlegs here.
I am definitely looking forward to the new album, but even more so for them to get back on the road (and hopefully out to Cali). Oh, and I wouldn’t mind them releasing the HD footage they are sitting on from Bonnaroo 2006…
