It’s time to mobilize
With more and more people accessing the Net via mobile devices, it has become more important than ever to make websites compatible with mobile browsers. Thanks to MoFuse, creating a .mobi site has become a snap.
It’s as simple as signing up for a free account, inputting some info about your site, and pointing readers to your new mobile address. MoFuse generates both generic mobile browser formatting as well as iPhone/iPod Touch friendly versions of your site (i.e. mobile boilr | iboilr).
The free account provides some customization, but limits your mobile URL to their domain: yoursite.mofuse.mobi. However, if you upgrade to their Pro account, you can then specify the domain of your choice.
Ultimately, MoFuse offers an extremely useful and user-friendly service for both amateur and professional web developers alike.

Mapping WiFi around the world

WeFi aims to generate a comprehensive map of WiFi hot spots around the world. The company site explains:
WeFi is software loaded onto your laptop or mobile device. It enhances your existing WiFi management software with a more powerful connection tool. The WeFi software automatically detects and qualifies all WiFi access points within range and connects you to the spot with the best Internet connection.
Along with the WiFi connection software, users get access to WeFi’s IM service which combines instant messaging with the ability to see where your friends are connected from across the globe.
With over 300, 000 logged WiFi access points, a dynamic world map of the latest additions, and searchable local hot spot maps, WeFi might be on to something here.
Setup your own Wiidia Center
Last week, Lifehacker posted instructions on how to turn a Wii into a wireless media center.
Not one to shy away from maximizing the utility of my gadgets (or a chance to geek-out), I couldn’t resist and tried it out over the weekend.
While definitely not perfect, the resulting Wiidia Center is quite impressive considering both the cost of the needed software (free - Windows-only; except if you count the required $5 Internet Channel for the Wii), and the simplicity of setup (about 10 minutes).

Jabba’s home makeover
Yup. That desk really is made out of Jabba the Hutt’s favorite decoration - Han Solo in Carbonite. Cool and creepy at the same time…

Air is in

(almost) Zero Pollution Motors will soon be accepting pre-orders for its up-coming Air Car, due to be delivered late 2009/early 2010.
Not quite gas-free (see below), The Air Car relies on compressed air rather than gasoline to power the 6 cylinder, 75 hp engine. It has an estimated top speed of 96 mph and an estimated fuel economy of 106 mpg. The first model expected to ship to the States is a 6 seater (above) with an expected range of 848 miles (8 gal gas tank).
It’s a matter of perspective
Hyundai has developed a new in-dash lcd screen capable of 2 different displays depending on the viewing angle. As you can see (above), the driver sees a GPS navigation screen while the passenger can watch a movie from the other seat.
